Nokia N96Nokia N96, a multimedia computer truly optimized for video and TV. Accessing internet videos is quick and simple. The Nokia N96 supports common video formats including MPEG-4, Windows Media Video and Flash Video, making favorite videos easy to view. Transferring and accessing videos is even faster with the high-speed USB 2.0 connection and WLAN and HSDPA support.

The massive memory can store up to 40 hours of video content. The storage capacity of the Nokia N96 can even be further expanded with an optional microSD card, such as the new Nokia 8GB microSDHC Card MU-43 which increases the available memory of the Nokia N96 to a total of 24 GB. For added convenience, the Nokia N96 features a ‘kickstand’ on the back cover that allows for hands-free viewing.

For a superb music experience, the Nokia N96 features media keys, a 3.5 mm headphone connector and built-in 3D stereo speakers. The Nokia Maps application offers richer maps with urban details and satellite views and has upgrade options such as City Guides, turn-by-turn pedestrian mode and voice-guided car navigation.

Smartphone Nokia N78 Hits the US at $560

Nokia N78 Nokia N78, the first of the two new Nseries smartphones announced by Nokia this year, is now available in the US, as the Finnish company itself announced this in a press release appeared a few hours ago on its official website.

The North American N78 has a suggested retail price of $560 and can be found, as of today, at various retailers as well as in Nokia’s Flagship Stores from New York and Chicago.

Already available in Europe, India and other global markets, the new Nseries has now a US version that comes with quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) as well as dual-band HSDPA connectivity (850 / 1900 MHz), the latter allowing users to achieve high data transfer speeds (up to 3.6 Mbps) and to browse the Web with ease.

Presented as a flawless mix of “features and services”, the N78 weighs 101.8 grams, measures 113 x 49 x 15 millimeters and comes with the following highlights: a 2.4 inch TFT display (16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels), a 3.2 Megapixel camera (with auto focus, flash, geotagging, Carl Zeiss optics and video recording), built-in GPS, A-GPS, Nokia Maps, Wi-Fi, full HTML browser, RSS reader, email and Instant Messaging, Music and Video players, a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio and FM Transmitter, Push to Talk and document viewer – all running on Symbian S60 3.2 OS.

T-Mobile Launch Nokia 6301 and Samsung T339

Nokia 6301T-Mobile USA has just announced the release of two new handsets for its subscribers: Nokia 6301 and Samsung T339, both being compatible with T-Mo’s HotSpot @Home wireless service.

Nokia 6301 is a candybar that resembles the old 6300 model. Weighing 3.2 ounces (91 grams) and measuring 4.2 x 1.7 x 0.5 inches (107 x 43 x 12.7 mm), the phone packs the following features: a 2 inch TFT display with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Wi-Fi, T-Mobile myFaves, stereo Bluetooth, Music player (MP3, WMA, AAC and eAAC+ supported), FM radio, Instant Messaging, a 2 Megapixel camera, expandable memory (up to 4GB) and tri-band GSM connectivity (850 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS, EDGE and UMA.

Samsung T339Samsung T339 (or Samsung SGH-T339) is a fancy clamshell that comes after less than one week from the announcement of another Samsung clamshell, the weird looking T299. The features of T339 include: Wi-Fi, myFaves, a 176 x 220 pixel TFT display with 262K colors, Music player, stereo Bluetooth, Instant Messaging and expandable memory up to only 2GB. The new Samsung weighs 3.3 ounces (93.5 grams) and, when closed, it measures 3.62 x 1.83 x 0.78 inches (92 x 46.5 x 19.8 mm).

“Since launching T-Mobile HotSpot @Home nearly a year ago, T-Mobile has remained committed to building our portfolio of handsets to support this innovative wireless service. These new phones are stylish offerings for our customers who want to take advantage of unlimited nationwide calling and great wireless coverage – all for an affordable price,” stated Sajal Sahay, director of product marketing, T-Mobile USA, in a press release.

Although T-Mobile says the new Nokia and Samsung handsets are available as of today, both online and in select retail stores across the US, the carrier’s website doesn’t feature the phones and their prices are not known yet. Lazy workers in the “site update” department, eh?

Nokia N78 Released in India

Nokia N78Nokia N78, the latest Nseries handset launched by Nokia, is now available across India, bringing users lots of high-end features, specific to any Nseries phone produced by the Finnish company up to now.

Successor of the N77 model, which is still being sold, of course, the N78 was first announced back in February, during MWC 2008, together with Nokia N96, the Nseries flagship that should be released in the next few months.

In terms of design, the new N78 can’t really be considered attractive, having a classic candybar form factor. The only thing that actually stands out is its semi-flat keypad that, although it looks too small for a proper use, it’s friendlier than it appears to be.

While the design is not its strong side, the N78 can impress with its features. Among the highlights of the phone we have Symbian S60 3.2 OS, GPS, Nokia Maps, Wi-Fi, a 2.4 inch TFT display with 16 million colors and a QVGA resolution (240 x 320 pixels), Music and Video players, email, Web browser, Instant Messaging, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio, a 3.5mm headset jack, document viewer, expandable memory and so on. There’s also a 3.2 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus, flash, geotagging and video recording, providing about anything someone would want from a mobile phone camera.

Nokia N78 can be bought in India for 19,999 INR (470 USD or 300 Euros), which is far less than the price the phone was sold for initially, in Finland (700 USD or 450 Euros). Moreover, it’s even less than the official price announced by Nokia for the N78 (350 Euros), hence Indian mobile users are able to buy the handsets for about the lowest price in the world.

Although the new Nseries is currently launched only in a couple of countries, Nokia will surely sell the phone on all the important mobile markets around the world (North America included).

Looking at the functionality of the modern cell phones, it seems that something really innovative can hardly be designed. However some designers just go to show that their creativity knows no bounds. Kimberly Hu who created Nokia Scentsory concept phone can be reckoned among such designers as well.

The concept of Nokia Scentsory can be considered as an overwhelmingly innovative one. It represents a mobile communication device that works with the senses of smell, sight, hearing and touch. So, besides basic audiovisual features, Scentsory is able to detect, transmit and emit smells as well. In addition to this it can also radiate colours, lighting, and temperature from the caller’s environment. The dual-screen mobile has a LED touchpad, speakers, hidden camera and temperature sensors. Nanotechnology has played an important role in the development of this original device. Using highly sophisticated sensors, the electronic ‘nose’ samples the odour of the caller’s environment and transmits it to the recipient electronically.

Given gadget has three different working modes that distinguish from each other according to the available functions. When the phone is in ‘flat mode’, the LED touchpad, two screens and stereo speakers for audiovisual calls are accessible. In ‘open mode’, two screens with a hidden camera and stereo speakers, interior scent detectors, emitter and exterior temperature sensors are exposed. In ‘closed mode’, the phone’s slim profile suits traditional voice calls. The LED screen on the lower folding surface alerts the user to incoming calls.

Thus, at present the creation of such a device seems to be unreal. Yet if this phone appears in the near future, it will be very popular for sure.

Jika anda membandingkan N82 dengan N95, anda akan menemukan banyak kemiripan antara kedua produk. Contohnya kamera 5-megapixel dengan autofocus dan lensa Carl Zeiss serta dukungan buily-in GPS dengan A-GPS. Kemudian adanya 3.5mm audio jack, HSDPA dan onboard 802.11b/g wireless LAN. Jadi pertanyaan terbesar yang muncul adalah, perangkat-perangkat apakah yang dimiliki camera-phone N-series terbaru ini dibandingkan pendahulunya yang popular N95? Dari hasil review kami, berikut yang dapat kami temukan.

Kelebihan
Perbedaan yg paling paling nyata adalah pada bentuknya. N82 mengambil desain candy-bar, mirip dengan N73, walaupun dari segi genggaman tidak semantap edisi pendahulunya itu. N95 sendiri merupakan handphone sliding 2 arah, lebih pendek dari N82 lebih gempal dan berat.

Feature yang paling gress dari N82 adalah penambahan Xenon flash unit, hampir mirip yang ada pada handset Sony Ericsson K800i dan K850i. Umumnya, kamera yg dilengkapi dengan lampu kilat mampu menghasilkan gambar yg lebih tajam untuk pengambilan di ruang dengan pencahayaan minimal, bandingkan dengan handphone berkamera yg hanya diperlegkapi dengan pencahayaan LED yg lebih mirip dengan cahaya obor daripada lampu kilat. Sebuah sensor orientasi dengan menggunakan built-in accelerometer juga telah ditambahkan pada unit ini untuk memudahkan perpindahan antara mode portrait dan mode landscape dengan cepat.
Hal lain yang ditemukan pada N82 adalah kapasitas baterai 1,050mAh yang lebih besar. Hasilnya, waktu siaga dan waktu bicara lebih lama dibandingkan N95 yang menggunakan baterai 950mAh cell. Konektifitas USB pada N82 menggunakan microUSB port sementara N95 menggunakan miniUSB port.
Selain itu, N82 memiliki hampir semua yang ada pada N95, khususnya VGA video capture (pada kecepatan 30fps) dengan stabilisasi video, TV-out, A2DP Bluetooth stereo, display 16 juta warna dan FM radio (dengan Visual Radio). Sama seperti N95, onboard GPS pada N82 juga didukung oleh A-GPS dan aplikasi Nokia Maps. N82 hanya memiliki memori onboard sebesar 100MB dibandingkan N95 yang memiliki 160MB, tetapi pada N82 telah dilengkapi microSD card sebesar 2GB.

Kelemahan
Salah satu kelemahan N82 Candy bar adalah display 2.4-inch QVGA-nya yang lebih kecil sehingga menyulitkan dalam mengakses web dan penggunaan petunjuk GPS (bandingkan dengan N95 dengan layar 2.6-inch). Selain itu, prototype unit N82 ini dihadirkan dengan sentuhan warna silver terang yang keliatannya merupakan warna yang paling netral untuk kebanyakan pengguna handphone namun terasa agak seperti plastic.
Pada N82 tidak ditemukan adanya tombol untuk playback multimedia dan untuk beberapa pengguna mungkin akan mengalami kesulitan menekan tombolnya yang terlalu kecil.



Outlook
Menyerupai N95, N82 adalah handset yang powerful dan sangat menggoda bagi konsumen yang menginginkan handphone dengan fitur yang lengkap. Secara khusus, penambahan Xenon flash akan akan menempatkan N82 setara dengan Sony Ericsson K850i yang menjadi favorit bagi pengguna fanatic terhadap fitur camera-phone. Namun dengan tidak adanya fitur-fitur yang unik pada N82 rasanya tidak akan cukup untuk memaksa pengguna N92 untuk melakukan upgrade.
