TOOB brings back the curved screen

Who says that we are in a flatscreen age with the TOOB? The TOOB allows a user one of those domed theater experiences, but in your household.

It is powered by a projector from a home theater, and allows the user to plug anything into it, such as a video games system or DVD player. I am guessing that the user lays down in front of it and feels an immersed experience.

I’m guessing that this experience is limited to the amount of people lying down in front of it. I don’t really know if these photos do it justice for what it can really do. I mean, just imagine being right in front of that alligator.

So who needs 3D on our TVs, right? This sort of reminds me of the time I was watching the first Lord of the Rings in the theater, and the curved screen sort of made the experience more grand. I had to shift my focus to see objects in the distance, and it sort of felt like I was in Middle Earth itself.

Well, if you want this 3 foot by 6 foot TOOB, it will cost you. It costs about $1,440, and there is an 8 foot by 16 foot inflatable version. That might be good for movie parties in a public park, or something.

Two Pigs Pass for iPhone Release

THQ Wireless has announced Pass The Pigs, the iPhone version of the popular dice game. Playable on an iPod touch as well, Pass The Pigs has players winning points by throwing two model pigs across a casino-style table.

As THQ puts it… “The launch of Pass The Pigs marks a new commitment by THQ Wireless to bring casual, mass-market games to the mobile arena,” said Adam Comiskey, vice president of THQ Wireless. “It’s a hugely fun and entertaining game with one-button controls and we think fans of casual games will enjoy this quick-play format.”

As noted above, Pass The Pigs players must throw two model pigs across a casino-style table to gather points. The player will have points either given or taken away, based on the way the pigs land until ‘Pig Out’. Up to four players can jump in on the fun in classic mode, which includes three alternative scoring methods. Shake´N´Roll controls must be used to roll the pigs, with varying power, exactly as one would intuitively roll a pair of dice. This, of course, implies the use of the iPhone’s accelerometer. Using the touch-screen controls, players can alternatively roll the pigs by flicking or sliding with their fingers on the screen.

A new game mode, exclusive to the iPhone and iPod touch, is the “Pig’s Life”, which, according to THQ Wireless, is “full of piglet-related fun”. Players go through four phases of a pig’s life encounting a unique life-path game mechanic. As a player, your choices during gameplay (based on love, wisdom or money) combine to unravel different stories and outcomes. You can also unlock vibrant hats and disguises for the pig to wear, from Disco-Pig to Robo-Pig, as you progress through the game.
